If you cannot log in to your Discover account, the most likely cause is a simple typo or Caps Lock being on. Double-check your User ID and password, then try again. If that does not work, walk through the causes below.

## Most likely cause: wrong credentials or Caps Lock

* Make sure **Caps Lock** is off
* Retype your **User ID** and **password** carefully
* If you saved your password in a browser or password manager, confirm it matches your current password

If you forgot either one, use the **Forgot User ID/Password** link on the login page, or see our guides on [resetting your password](/account/reset-password) and [recovering your User ID](/account/forgot-user-id).

> **Browser cache or cookies are causing issues**
>
> Old cache or cookies can prevent the login page from loading correctly. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies for discover.com, then close and reopen your browser before signing in again.

> **Your browser is outdated**
>
> Discover requires a modern, supported browser. If you see a message saying your browser is out of date, update to the latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge, then try again.

> **You are using a VPN or proxy**
>
> VPNs and proxies can sometimes trigger security blocks. Temporarily disable your VPN or proxy, then attempt to log in directly.

> **The site is undergoing maintenance**
>
> Occasionally, Discover performs scheduled maintenance. If the site loads but login fails with a generic error, wait a few minutes and try again. You can also check the Discover website for any service notices.

> **Your account is not registered for online access**
>
> If you have never registered your card for online account access, you will need to enroll first. See [Register Your Online Account](/getting-started/register-online-account) for steps.

> **The mobile app needs an update**
>
> On the Discover mobile app, an outdated version can cause sign-in failures. Update the app through the App Store or Google Play, then try logging in again. If issues persist, you can also sign in through your mobile browser at discover.com.

## If that did not work

If you still cannot log in after trying the steps above:

1. Try a different device or network (for example, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data)
2. Make sure you are using the official Discover site or official app
3. Call the customer service number printed on the back of your Discover card, or visit the official Discover contact page at discover.com

> [!WARNING]
>
> Never share your password, one-time code, or card number with anyone who contacts you by phone, text, or email. Discover will never ask for your password or verification code unsolicited.
